The power of synergy

Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay offer different strengths. We bring them together around the life you want to build: where you want to live, how your business operates and the options you want to keep open. Your bespoke strategy connects these decisions, whether you are preparing a move or putting a Plan B in place.

Latin Privilege Advisory is a boutique consultancy connecting your plans with trusted local expertise. We coordinate the people and practical arrangements, while independent professionals lead the legal, tax and other specialist work.

From our founder

How the Privilege Triangle began

Living in the region has taught me to look beyond a single country. A home, a business and a banking relationship may each be better placed somewhere different. Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay are close enough for those choices to form part of the same life.

That is the thinking behind our Privilege Triangle. Your strategy develops from your circumstances, with the team's regional knowledge and the input of local lawyers, tax advisers and other specialists. The recommendations are set out in writing and discussed with you and, if you wish, your existing advisers.

What matters to me is that you understand the choices and feel well prepared to make them.

The Privilege Triangle

A place to call home, a tax-residency base and a banking relationship can serve different purposes. We consider the three countries together: Argentina for life and citizenship, Uruguay as a banking anchor, and Paraguay for tax residency.

Travel within the region

Proximity keeps the different parts of your strategy within reach. Ferries connect Buenos Aires with Montevideo and Colonia; Uruguay’s roads link the capital, Punta del Este and the coast, allowing you to combine city life with a quieter coastal base.

Montevideo has direct flights to Buenos Aires and Asunción. Road routes offer an alternative when you prefer to travel by car.

Carrasco serves Montevideo; Punta del Este has its own international airport near the coast. Both have dedicated private aviation facilities. Airport access is part of choosing a base.

Travel documents and references

For travellers of eligible nationalities, an accepted Argentine DNI or Paraguayan or Uruguayan cédula offers a convenient way to travel within Mercosur.

Your circumstances

A plan shaped around your life.

Where you live, how your business operates, your tax position and your family’s everyday life should work together. Your strategy connects the decisions that matter to you, drawing on the complementary strengths of Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay.

Family life across bordersOne household, different commitments.

One of you may be ready to settle while the other still needs to travel for work. Children have schools, routines and plans of their own. We consider the family together, bringing residence, travel and the ownership of assets into one plan.

Your businessMove your life, your company, or both.

Moving yourself and moving a company are different decisions. Where you work, lead a team or sign contracts can matter to both. We explore whether to keep your existing structure, establish a regional operation or relocate activity, including Uruguay’s free-zone and software options.

Business in Uruguay
CitizenshipA longer-term goal with its own commitments.

Citizenship can shape where you spend the next several years. Before you choose a route, you need to understand the residence commitment, the travel it allows and how it fits your family and work. We bring those questions into the strategy from the beginning.

A prepared Plan BAnother option, without moving today.

Your main life can stay where it is while you prepare another option for your family. Starting early gives you time to choose well and put agreed arrangements in place. Your plan shows what is ready, what needs to stay current and the steps to take when you decide to move, with trusted local people already identified.

Adult childrenTheir own plans within the family strategy.

An eighteen-year-old studying abroad may need a different route from a younger sibling moving with you. We look at each child’s age, study or work commitments, supporting documents and means of support. The aim is a workable plan for both generations, with travel and application timetables that fit their lives.

Family wealth and successionReview existing structures before you move.

What works for a family foundation, trust or holding company at home may need a fresh review before you move. We bring questions about control, distributions and reporting to the right advisers. The same care applies to property, so ownership, matrimonial arrangements and inheritance reflect what you intend for the next generation.

Our local partners

Expertise earned over a lifetime.

Our partners have spent years studying, practising and earning the trust of the communities they call home. We choose them with care and respect the judgement that comes from that experience.

Local standing

Country knowledge is more than knowing the language. It comes from a life, a career and relationships built in the place where your plans will take shape.

Lasting relationships

We value long-term relationships built on loyalty, respect and a shared standard of care. Each lawyer, tax adviser and specialist leads within their own professional field.

Latin Privilege Advisory brings their work together around your wider plan, with a clear brief and an agreed sequence of decisions.

From strategy to implementation

How we work

Your strategy comes first. You review and accept the written plan before agreeing its implementation.

The strategy engagement

  1. Understanding your circumstances

We examine your priorities, family and business circumstances, and international ties. Together, we identify the options to consider and the questions that need local specialist input.

  2. Your written strategy, explained

Your strategy PDF sets out our recommendations, assumptions, outstanding specialist questions and next steps. We walk through it with you and, with your permission, your family office or advisers.

Implementation: agreed separately

  1. Agreed scope and preparation

Once you accept the strategy, we agree the implementation scope, responsibilities and fees in writing. We coordinate documents and plan appointments and visits in advance, explaining the time your route requires. Residency and additional services have their own budgets.

  2. Implementation and arrival

We coordinate residency appointments, airport reception, application follow-up and the support you have agreed. Local specialists lead their own work; our team remains your point of contact throughout the process.

Working together

Our part

  • Research suitable options and coordinate the relevant local specialists.
  • Prepare your written strategy and discuss its recommendations and next steps with you.
  • Once you approve implementation, organise the work within the agreed scope.

Your part

  • Share your priorities, existing commitments and relevant family or business circumstances.
  • Provide the requested information and documents in good time.
  • Review the plan, approve further work and allow time for agreed discussions and in-person requirements.
Arrival and residency support

Before you travel, we coordinate your schedule, documents, airport welcome and premium private transfers. Your named coordinator knows your plan and remains your point of contact throughout the agreed residency process. Independent local lawyers lead the application and representation.

Safety, privacy and comfort guide the choice of neighbourhoods, routes and places to stay. The residency package includes all agreed local costs: independent legal work, notaries, required translations, apostilles and government charges.

Life after arrival

Welcome Home helps with schools, language and everyday questions. Property assistance helps you find a home or prepare a base for your Plan B. Private Concierge covers requests beyond the packages.

The starting framework

Three countries. Distinct roles.

The Privilege Triangle is our regional base. Your strategy can build on your existing homes, businesses and financial arrangements elsewhere. Where Panama or another jurisdiction belongs in the plan, we can help identify suitable independent specialists and coordinate their input with your advisers.

Argentina

A home and a longer horizon

The cultural life of Buenos Aires, wine country and Patagonia offer very different ways to make a home. We plan residence around your income and family, with any future citizenship route assessed as a separate legal question.

The Rentista route requires qualifying income from assets. Salary and payment for personal work do not qualify.

A solid banking anchor

An established financial system can provide the banking anchor for a regional plan. We coordinate preparation with local specialists, taking account of your circumstances, source of funds and the bank’s requirements.

Account opening is subject to the bank’s review. Legal residence and tax residency have their own requirements.

A base for tax residency

A potential tax base within a wider international life. Local specialists examine where your income arises, where you actually work and the obligations that remain elsewhere before an arrangement is recommended.

Immigration residence, a cédula and tax residency are separate matters. An overseas payer alone does not make income tax-free.

Plan your tax residency before you move

A 183-day threshold is common, but each country sets its own rules. The centre of your life, including your home, family and business ties, can establish tax residency even with shorter stays. A residence permit does not settle your tax position, and moving abroad does not automatically end your tax obligations in the country you leave.

You appoint your own tax lawyer in your current country of tax residence. We can recommend trusted local tax counsel for your destination. If you need an introduction elsewhere, ask us; we have contacts in some jurisdictions. Your appointed advisers should assess the tax costs, benefits and obligations of the move before you commit.

Latin Privilege Advisory provides relocation consulting and coordination. We are not tax lawyers and do not give tax or legal advice. Your strategy considers these questions within the wider plan; independent tax counsel supplies the tax advice and legal conclusions.

Your strategy includes an allowance for independent legal and tax review and related coordination on the questions we agree with you. Where further analysis is needed, we agree its scope and fixed budget before it begins. Legal documents, company formation and implementation are commissioned separately. Full details are set out in Services & fees.

Comparison and tax sources

Planning questions

Does an overseas client make my income tax-free?

Not by itself. The place where services are performed and the nature of the income matter. Work performed in Paraguay for a foreign client may fall within IRP. Assess the activity with a local tax professional.

Sources
Are temporary residence, a cédula and tax residence the same?

No. Temporary residence authorizes residence under migration rules and gives access to a separate identity-card procedure. Tax residence and income classification require their own assessment.

Sources
Can salary qualify for Rentista residence?

The category requires qualifying income from assets and excludes pay for personal work. The published minimum is five SMVM. The source of the income, supporting evidence and current requirements determine eligibility.

Sources
Does the new-resident regime exempt all worldwide income?

No. Article 648 addresses specified foreign capital income and conditions for an election by new tax residents from 2026. It is not a blanket exemption for salary, business activity or every foreign receipt.
